Discussion

Welcome

Welcome to our publication preview. Our publication, The Human Experience, is not currently live, but if you stroll through each page you will get a preview of the content to come.

You are currently visiting our Discussion section. Cheers to you!

The Human Experience focuses on bridging understanding & lessening the bigotry within the LGBTQ Community. Here’s How & Why:

Part of The Human Experience’s mission is to open dialogue, bridge understanding and lessen the bigotry within the queer community. Unfortunately, there isn’t only bigotry and misunderstanding towards the LGBTQ community by heteronormative society, but there’s bigotry within the LGBTQ community, as well.

The purpose of T.H.E. Discussion section is to provide a space for queer identifying people and allies to discuss issues of identity, to express themselves, to utilize their individual voices and to share personal stories and experiences. Our goal is to focus on people and our experiences that relate to our labels, as well as exist outside of them to illustrate our individual human experiences.

In our Discussion section we will collect submissions for: Our sexual identity column, our column featuring guest essays from people about questions and issues facing them and their personal experiences relating to their queer community and our I am the Human Experience blog campaign, photo campaign and video campaign.

Here are some example articles of the kind of content T.H.E. will publish:

In our column about issues and experiences relating to communities within the larger queer spectrum we’ll have guest essays similar to the one’s below, except we’ll feature more essays written by individuals who identify with the communities they write about.

Trans Women Included: Feminism and Trans Intersections – a guest essay by Allison Moon on T.H.E. Founder’s blog, Emelina Minero Writes.

Trans* Men & Misogyny – an essay by Emelina Minero in response to a reader’s question on T.H.E. Founder’s blog, Emelina Minero Writes.

We’ll also have guest essays that focus on sexual and gender identity, like the ones below:

Why I Don’t Identify As Bisexual – by Ember Swift on her blog Queer Girl Gets Married.

What is Genderqueer? – by Jiz Lee on her website Jiz Lee.

We’ll also feature guest essays that get submitted to our I am the Human Experience blogging campaign, like the ones below:

I am the Human Experience: Claudette Edition – by Claudette Jones on The Human Experience (T.H.E.) Blog.

My Human Experience – by Sarah Stout on T.H.E. Blog.
