Palm Springs is already the gay music festival capital of the world, home to the annual Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend and Jeffrey Sanker’s White Party Palm Springs, the largest queer female and male parties and music festivals in the world. Palm Springs also hosts queer-centered newcomer Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival, which will be returning for its third year next year, and during the two-weekend Coachella Music Festival, there were several “mini-Coachella” events that rocked Palm Springs hotels.
Palm Springs is known for its festivals, but now several Palm Springs music venues and institutions are paving the way for the city’s musical future year-round, including the upcoming Hacienda Cantina & Beach Club and the future Knitting Factory at Arrive Hotel. Also, throughout the summer, many of Palm Springs’ hotels host pool parties and live music, including Riviera Palm Springs, Hard Rock Hotel, Saguaro Palm Springs, Skylark Palm Springs, Ace Hotel & Swim Club and The Curve Hotel.
Infusing two of Palm Springs’ favorite pastimes, pool parties and music festivals, Splash House, a music festival built around the stages of Palm Springs’ pools, is returning for its second year, June 13-15, 2014.
This year is promised to outdo last year with Splash House’s partnership with Goldenvoice, the producer of the annual Coachella Music Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival. Splash House is expanding into a three-day event, adding two new venues, more music, and you can expect many newcomers on top of last year’s 3,000 plus young adults.
Splash House spans three Palm Springs properties, The Saguaro, the new Hard Rock Hotel and the new Hacienda Cantina & Beach Club. Together with Goldenvoice’s Midas touch, the world’s top DJS will be paired at each venue. You can check out the music lineup here.
You won’t have to worry about wasting time getting from stage to stage. Shuttles run nonstop between the venues, picking up and dropping off every couple of minutes so you won’t miss a thing.
Another great advantage of a pool party music festival is that you’re staying at the music festival venue. You don’t have to waste hours trying to find your friends amidst thousands in a field, you don’t need to run from stage to stage to experience the music, you don’t have to wait in long lines to use a dirty Porta-A-Potty and you don’t have to take a long shuttle ride back to your destination. You’re already at your destination.
On top of the music festival experience, Splash House is also hosting after parties at downtown bars and hotel lobbies, a Saturday bottomless mimosa brunch party, entertainment games and competitions and pockets of R&R throughout the weekend, from shaded pool-side lounges to yoga by the pool to help you kick off your day.
Less than two hours away from Los Angeles and San Diego, Palm Springs is a close and affordable destination for those seeking a close to home getaway. For summer hot deals, an event calendar and Palm Springs visitor information, go to www.visitgaypalmsprings.com or call 760-778-8418.
